Recipe for Enchantment

Today I thought it would be helpful to just review some of the ingredients that make up THE ENCHANTED SELF way of living.   Hope you enjoy ‘cooking’ with me, Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein, Positive Psychologist.

THE ENCHANTED SELF promotes a positive review of your life and encourages life style changes that lead to living a more joyful, authentic and meaningful life.

Once you know how, it is just as easy to practice positive states of mind and body, as it is to repeat negative behaviors.

I emphasize using your memories for positive, life enhancing purposes.

I encourage reviewing your past to see that has given you pleasure and joy.

I also help you rediscover talents and lost potential.

Always I emphasize what is right with you rather than what is wrong.

Let’s give energy and support to:

  • Remembering the best,
  • Practicing pleasure,
  • Going for our potential!

Earth Angels

I saw a sign outside of a school today that went like this: "There are many angels on earth, disguised as children."

I think this is a great quote.  One reason I wrote my new book, THE TRUTH, My Secret Diary, I’m Ten, I’m Smart and I Know Everything, is because I believe that children have a kind of heavenly wisdom that we often loose as we grow-up.  They see and they know instantly so many things-whether someone is trying to harm them, whether grown-ups are lying, whether people are wasting precious time, whether grown-ups are missing the point!  Let’s get to know our Earth Angels!  We will all be the wiser for the knowing.  Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein, Positive Psychologist, www.enchantedself.com

Recipe for Fun

I heard today about a great game that children play.  It is called ‘GiggleBelly’ or ‘Ha-Ha’ and apparently a lot of kids learn it at camp.  You lie on the floor and each person puts her head on the next person’s belly.  Then someone starts by saying, "Ha."  Then the next person says, "Ha-ha."  Then the next person says, "Ha, ha, ha."  And so on.  Soon everyone is laughing hysterically.

This sounds like a lot of fun.  Perhaps we could modify this for an adult Recipe for Fun and instead we could just start laughing outloud even if it is forced at first.  We just all keep laughing and watching each other and soon we find ourseves laughing for real.  I have heard this is what they do in Laughing Yoga which is a new rage sweeping the world.  Sounds like fun to me!  What do you think?

All my best,  Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein, Positive Psychologist and Happiness Coach.  www.theenchantedself.com and www.enchantedself.com

Happiness and Achievement

I saw today on a YOGI teabag :  Every smile is a direct achievement.  So an easy way to achieve success in life is to smile and the payoff is that you will feel happier at the same time!  Another payoff is that you will make others happy.  Let’s all get gold stars!  Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein, Positive Psychologist, www.enchantedself.com
